At Heartwood Federation, safeguarding children is at the heart of everything we do. Technology plays an important role in children's education and daily lives, bringing many opportunities for learning, communication and creativity. However, we also recognise that the online world can present risks, including inappropriate content, online bullying, exploitation, misinformation, artificial intelligence (AI) generated content and unsafe online interactions.

We are committed to helping all children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to use technology safely and responsibly. Online safety is taught throughout our curriculum and is reinforced through worship, PSHE, Computing lessons and wider safeguarding work across our schools.

We believe that keeping children safe online is most effective when schools and families work together. Parents and carers play a vital role in supporting safe online behaviours at home. By maintaining open communication with children about their online experiences and ensuring appropriate parental controls and supervision are in place, we can work in partnership to help children navigate the digital world safely.

To support our families, we regularly share Online Safety (E-Safety) Newsletters containing practical advice, guidance on emerging online risks, information about popular apps and games, and tips for promoting positive online behaviour at home.
